As you may already know there are two types of phone numbers – public and private. If your phone number is private, like most mobile numbers are, it probably cannot be found anywhere in free sources. But what if your phone number got listed in one of the free directories, like White Pages? If your phone number is publicly listed with White Pages, everyone can look up personal information about you with a click of a mouse.
Fortunately, you do not have to change your phone # if this is the case. White Pages has a simple procedure in place which you can follow in order to remove the listing.
- Find your phone number
- Select your listing
- While on the “Detail View” page, find and click on “Is this you? Remove your listing” at the bottom of the page. That’s it!
Detailed instructions can be found here.
Another useful tip will help you add your number to DoNotCall registy. This government established directory contains all the numbers which are not allowed to be used in telemarketing campaigns. In other words, if you have been recently receiving a lot of telemarketing calls, you should consider listing your number with the DoNotCall database.
Simply follow these three simple steps to get your # included in the DoNotCall list.
